Thanks Wing Commander, well written. I remember how 1914 was drilled into us. How the genration was NOT going to pass away. One elder even went as far as to tell me that the society had only prepared outlines and so on till the year 2000, it was 1992 at the time. The GB allow this kind of talk cause it fuels their lies. I think some of the older ones don't even realise that this 'truth' no longer applies and has been changed by the eternal 'new light'. What a lot of *&^%.

1984 WT Bound Volume; a review of Cult gold!
by WingCommander insorry if this is long.
i happened to be at my mothers house last night, and decided to look up the whole explanation of the 1914 doctrine.
i have seen from others on here and also the internet the covers from some of the 1984 watchtowers that talk about 1914, a focal point of bible prophecy?, 1914, the generation that will not pass away, etc.

I'm going to be disfellowshipped on Wednesday
by Thinking of Leaving inthe elders cames to my home on saturday and i didn't answer the door, so they told my sister to relay the message.
the message was "you know what it's about, we're going to make the announcement next meeting".
i knew it was coming...but it feels so weird.

Hi Thinking of Leaving, now you can change your name to "Have Left". You wrote that after you sister told you they were going to make the annoucement you had a bad week end. That very normal even if your mind knows that it's for the best you heart still has to get over it. It's like a death and you have to go through the mourning prosess. We all know that the WBTS is poison but some of the friendships made with JW are real and it will take time for you to get over the loss. Be easy on yourself for a while.

Imaginary Friends can help you get over divorce Apparently
by Crumpet inits been suggested to me by someone who clearly is not aware of my atheism that adopting an imaginary friend could help me find my purpose in life after a relationship breakup.
it annoys and perplexes me although i realise everyone has a right to their own opinion.. however my opinion is this:.
my husband hasnt left me - i've never had a husband and i certainly hope i never have that misfortune or get ill enough to suffer such poor judgement as restricting myself to the bed of one person for the rest of my life when i personally am certainly not willing to keep such a promise.

Must agree with you Little Toe. Crumpet you cannot call Christians "metally incapacited" and call yourself open minded at the same time what is fantasy to you is very real to others.
I wish you all the best as you recover from your broken heart.

Wish this were the other way round...
by bluebell ini met up with someone i used to know but lost contact with about 3m ago - i saw her in the street and struck up a conversation, mentioned that i didn't go to meetings any more and it turned out that she didn't either.
anyhow, have been keeping in touch with the odd phone call and text but her bro died last month.
he had just started studying (they were all bought up as dubs but their father used to beat them up) and got baptised at the last assembly.

The JW's will soon go back to their own lives and forget about your friend. You sound like a wonderful person just carry on caring

Suicide
by Regrets inhello all.. i post here under a different name but feel the need to unburden myself anonymously.
i hope you can understand.. several years ago, while married and an active dub, i had a one night stand.
i was mortified at what i had done because this had happened before and i had told my wife.

Trying to live a decent life IMHO is the only thing that is pleasing to god. If I am wrong, then so be it. I made my bed, I will accept the crumbs that go with it.
Jesus died for sinners, if you confess your sins to Him and ask for forgivness it's yours for the taking. God does not expect you to go on punishing yourself because of your mistakes. Go on and have a great life that is lived to the fullest. You sound like too much of great person to accept crumbs! Get new sheets on that bed and stop punishing yourself!

One night stands
by Crumpet inhow do you stand on one night stands?
and why?
i was really against them and said i never would again.
-
Mrs Smith
Hi Crumpet
Don't know why you want to know what we all think, looks like you're pretty happy with the way things turned out and that's all that counts. I've been married too long to even imagine having a one night stand so can't comment on it. Just be yourself and be safe.

They were not in the same primary school and he is now in high school. He answered her that he will never go to the meetings again cause it's a load of rubbish. This poor girl was shocked and asked him how he could say such a thing. He told her she should google Jehovah's Witnesses to see what he means. She just walked away. He could have been a little more diplomatic, but his only 13yrs old, and did the best he could.
It will be interesting to see how quick the elders hear of this and come knocking at our door. I'm so ready for them!

Thanks everyone. Police will just laugh at me this is South Africa, crime capital of the world, they are so busy with "real crime" that my doggie does not even feature on their list of things to do today. I don't blame them, crime is really bad here. I will however get the story into a local newspaper so dog owners can be aware of the situation. We are keeping my dog at the neighbors house till our building work is done so that he is safe.

Hi DJK
He was stolen. The woman that took him right outside my front door tied a rope around his collar and took him away. She was trying to get "reward" money for finding him. She didn't realise that someone saw her take him. Going to write to the local paper warning other dog owners. It's just crazy what some people do.
